ImpactFest is around the corner! What is ImpactFest, you ask? It’s a weeklong series of programs celebrating the ImpactHub community as it turns 4–a celebration of all our members have achieved, and the diverse social impact initiatives that make Boston such a unique place to be doing social impact work.
The week starts off with a chance to unwind and get creative at SnazzyFest. If you’re a member, stop by to help decorate the Hub will balloons and crafts. Supplies will be provided and so will snacks, so if you love to decorate and do crafts, join us Sunday, October 1, starting at 1pm.
The Fest kicks off in earnest Monday with the first of five Food for Thoughts. We’ll be having a freewheeling discussion on Social Change from the Grassroots. Each day we’ll be having Food for Thought during ImpactFest, so join us with your lunch at the Community Tables to learn from current members, Impact Hub alum, and other local social entrepreneurs about their work on pressing social and environmental issues and lessons from their entrepreneurial journeys.
Monday night, October 2, is a special Open Project Night, featuring social entrepreneurs from around Boston, working on critical issues, sharing ideas, and teaching skills you need to bring your vision to life.
Wednesday night, come to the movies with the first in a series of Movies That Matter at Impact Hub Boston. We’ll be screening our first film: The Last Colony, a documentary examining the history of the relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States. We will follow the film screening with a discussion about the current crisis and action steps you can take to help right now. Film will start promptly at 6:10pm
Thursday’s our big day–or, should we say, night–with our Birthday Party. We’ll be sharing some announcements, slicing some cake, bestowing some awards, crafting some swag, taking a look at our journey here and our impact, and also looking ahead to work we can do on local Boston issues by collaboratively mapping our local ecosystem on a few key themes. The fun starts at 6:30. Dress festively or keep it casual; it’s up to you!
Friday may be the last day of ImpactFest, but it’s still packed. In the morning, BostonSpeaks kicks off with a Social Impact panel. Spend the day with us, even if you’re not a member: it’s Open Coworking Day. You can work for free in the space; it’s the perfect opportunity to find out if the Hub is for you. We’ll be having an informational tour at 10:30, and weekly Coffee Conversation at 12:30, so you’ll definitely want to work out of our lovely space that day.
Wrapping up an eventful week on Friday evening, join us for Art for Social Impact, a gallery reception at 5:30. We will be welcoming local artists to discuss their work with the community and to join us for the festivities. Art will be on display at Impact Hub Boston throughout the week to view and absorb before finally meeting the artists on Friday.
ImpactFest is a celebration of four years of ImpactHub. More importantly, it’s a celebration of our members, and the social impact community of Boston. The past four years have been inspiring, innovative, and marked by strong growth. The past year has been a challenge for many, yet our global community is strong, and the commitment of Boston’s social innovators is stronger than ever. Come celebrate our collective achievements, and let’s see what inspired transformation the next four years can bring.
