Earth Day Food for Thought: Connecting Through Sustainable Technology

April 22, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

In celebration of Earth Day, Empower Design, Seeding Labs, and Water for Good are inviting you to a discussion of sustainable technology exchange and how it can create long-lasting impact in the developing world. What is the impact of technology transfer on local economies, environment, education, and quality of life? How do you build equal and collaborative partnerships? What are cultural barriers? How do you overcome the logistical hurdles of working in different settings, often with less infrastructure? While we can start off the discussion with examples from our work, the majority of the time will be focused on collaborative discussion. We hope you’ll share your experiences, ideas, and insights.

For maximum engagement, we’ll stream the conversation live using Google-On-Air. You will have the option to be on- or off-camera. If you can’t make the event, we encourage you to listen in! You can text questions or comments to the group to be read by one of our moderators.

These conversations will be moderated by Impact Hub Boston and CIC members Adrienne Lane , Rainey Jernigan, and Melissa Wu who are all engaged in technology exchange in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Because this falls on Impact Hub Boston’s weekly member lunch day, attendees also have the option to purchase $10 tickets ($5 for members) if they would like to join the community food order. Food is usually vegetarian with gluten-free and vegan options.
You are also welcome to bring a brown bag lunch and get a free ticket.
