Improv for Spiritual Innovators
June 11, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Religious institutions are changing, with growing numbers of unaffiliated and nonreligious people and shrinking attendance at religious services. To survive, institutions will need spiritual innovation. Yet, many are still unclear about what skills and activities they will need. In this uncertainty, improvisation—the art of acting without a script—has quickly become invaluable.
Whether you’re on stage with an audience, in a church or synagogue with your congregation, or at a nonprofit with your board, the ability to listen deeply to people inside and outside of your organization, create quickly off the top of your head, respond to new ideas, and lean into the uncertainty of the moment are all valuable skills. At their cores, improvisation and innovation thrive in positivity and fearlessness.
This improv workshop will integrate the concepts of improv with the challenges of spiritual innovation, so participants leave more confident and better equipped to face the uncertainty of their lives and in their work.
(No previous experience with improv necessary).
