Negotiating Your Career: Aligning Who You Are and What You Do – Lunch Session

What’s next for you professionally (or “when you grow up”)? What impact do you ultimately want to have on the world, and what kind of work-life balance do you dream of? Even if you know, how will you achieve these aspirations, especially if they require a major professional shift? This session will provide a framework to answer these questions and address the three most common mistakes in job seeking, turning the often chaotic, discouraging and overwhelming process of career development into one of choice and control. Building your career is the product of interactions with people— would be employers, colleagues, clients, and advisors (not firms or departments)—the intersection of career and negotiation. The session will explore that intersection and introduce how to approach three specific negotiations that all take place in each stage of constructing your career. It will go on to provide an overview of how the three negotiations advance you through each phase of your career from finding focus to building fulfillment. Presented by two authors of the forthcoming book; End the Job Hunt, Tad Mayer & Justin Wright.
